Members of the Arlington County Police Department responded at around 2:45 a.m. on Nov. 16 to the intersection of 23rd Street South and South Kenmore Street, where there were reports of shots fired in the area.
Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound and were able to render aid until paramedics arrived to take him to the hospital with injuries considered "serious, but non-life-threatening."
Investigators say that the man was outside when he was approached by at least five men, and during the course of the incident, one fired a gun and struck the victim before fleeing from the scene before investigators arrived.
It is unclear what led to the fatal shooting, which remains under investigation. No details about the victim or possible suspects were released.
